What Critics Are Saying:
I found DESPERATE STRAITS by Janet Squires to be a wonderful meeting of Lonesome Dove and a Nora Roberts historical Romance...
---PSusan W, reviewer Netgallery
Squires' briskly paced romance crackles with energy thanks to well-drawn characters and settings...Squires' use of historical details bolsters her settings, particularly the depiction of everyday life in the Arizona Territory...A well-developed romance wrapped in an engaging and fast-paced Western, complete with strong protagonists, colorful settings, and superb historical details.

MEET AUTHOR JANET SQUIRES
From the Desk of Janet Squires: My Writing and My Life
I began my career writing short stories and nonfiction articles and I've won awards in fiction and nonfiction. I enjoy taking time out from writing to provide presentations at schools and libraries, teach workshops, and mentor aspiring authors. Inspired by my thirty years experience as a library media specialist, I also review books for an international audience at ALL ABOUT THE BOOKS WITH JANET SQUIRES.
My interest in the historic West stems from the stories I heard growing up. My family pioneered their way through Texas, New Mexico and Arizona as ranchers, miners and lawmen. My favorite activity is any one that involves horses . . .
Or dogs . . . I can't remember a time when I didn't share my life with at least one. My interest in animal rescue and welfare issues made writing Monty's story an opportunity I couldn't resist. I've fostered numerous dogs in addition to the rescues that are part of my family. I've worked to raise awareness about puppy mills, bailed dogs out of shelters and bottle-fed orphaned puppies. I support a variety of rescue organizations.
I enjoyed my radio interview with OutWest's Bobbi Jean Bell and host Jim Christina on The Writer's Block Radio Show. Take a listen!
